# Introduction World Environment Day is an annual event that occurs on 5 June. The history of World Environment Day dates back to the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden in June 1972. The conference, also known as the Stockholm Conference, addressed environmental issues on a global scale for the first time. It brought together representatives from various countries to discuss the state of the environment and the need for international cooperation to address environmental challenges. As a result of the conference, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) was established.
