Yoga at High Altitude: A Transformative Experience in Sikles Park
Practicing yoga in the serene atmosphere of Sikles Park at high altitude was an experience unlike any other. Organised by Gandaki Ayurved Aaushadhalya, Kaski, this yoga retreat brought together more than 40 participants, all eager to embrace holistic well-being amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Annapurna region.
Our journey to Sikles began early in the morning, as we made our way through lush forests and terraced fields, arriving at the tranquil expanse of Sikles Park. Nestled at an elevation offering panoramic views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal, the park provided the perfect setting for a rejuvenating yoga session.
As the sun rose over the snow-capped peaks, our session commenced with guided breathing exercises, allowing us to absorb the crisp mountain air and centre our minds. The gentle morning breeze carried a sense of peace and purity, enhancing our meditation practice. Led by experienced yoga instructors, we engaged in a series of asanas designed to promote flexibility, balance, and inner harmony. The presence of more than 40 individuals, all moving in unison, created a powerful energy that amplified the spiritual essence of the session.
The high-altitude environment posed a unique challenge, requiring us to focus deeply on controlled breathing and mindfulness. Despite the physical exertion, the combination of nature’s grandeur and the collective spirit of the group made every moment fulfilling. The instructors also shared insights into Ayurvedic principles, emphasizing the importance of natural healing and well-being through yoga and meditation.
As the session concluded with a calming Savasana, we lay on the grass, gazing at the open sky, feeling a profound sense of connection with nature. The event was not just about physical postures but also about spiritual awakening and inner peace. The participants shared their gratitude for the opportunity to practice yoga in such a divine setting, strengthening both body and mind.
Following the session, we enjoyed herbal tea prepared by the organisers, discussing the impact of yoga on our well-being and how we could integrate these practices into our daily lives. The experience left us refreshed, rejuvenated, and more in tune with ourselves.
Trekking to Sikles Park for this yoga retreat was a transformative journey, reminding us of the harmony between nature, body, and soul. The event, beautifully curated by Gandaki Ayurved Aaushadhalya, Kaski, was a testament to the power of yoga in the lap of the Himalayas—a memory that will stay with us forever.
